Thanks for your website, that’s so useful to learn farsi quickly ! I had a question however, I’m a bit confused about the possessive adjectives because the afghani guys I’m working with told me you could say ‘man’ for ‘my’, like دوست من ‘dust man’ for instance to say ‘my friend’. So which rule is the right ? I found out on an other website both were possible, and as I told you, the guy was afghani so he may have told the rule with the dari way.
    Thanks for your help !

If I’m not mistaken, in Afghanistan they speak Dari, which is a type of Farsi, but is rooted in Farsi from the middle ages and there are some differences. It is a lot like the difference between American, Irish, Australian, Scottish, and British English.

That’s true. But some people in Afghanistan speak Arabic, some speak Pashtu.

if you want to use these words in a literary note or something like that you can say /chashm hayat/ but if you want to use it in a conversation it is more proper to say /cheshmat/

Salam! your lessons are truly helpful and easy to learn.
I wanted to know, how to say “my house” in persian…will it be “Kha:neHam”? or “Kha:nem”?
One more thing…If you could write the answers to useful drills that will really be appreciable.
And..i make my own sentences and try to translate them in persian..so,i got a little confusion about how to say “my brother bought my house last year”? if you could translate it for me.
    Thanks a lot.
    May Allah bless you AMEEN

P.S. I am from Pakistan and i KNOW that you should not have added “n” at the end of “know” in your reply. :p

“I don’t even know how to read and write in Farsi anymore”. You lost me at that. Something in that sentence doesn’t sound right.

    Hello,

You have done a great site for learning Farsi, as so far I have been totally unsuccessful in trying to study it and now I’ve reached the 16th lesson. Thank you! But I also have some suggestions: up to lesson 16 you introduced around 44 words. Now, some of them you use in your further explanations of grammar and samples to translate, and others just forget. Well, we, your students forget them too! So, to remember them we have to get back to the previous lessons and repeat them, or make up some other ways to keep them in mind. Now, it would be a great thing to SUMMARIZE the words you introduced, say at the end of every successive lesson or major summary every 10 lessons with a text in Farsi containing ALL these words ALL THE TIME. So by the end we will have practiced and memorized ALL the words equally. Then, your teaching course will acquire more consistency and be, to my opinion, simply perfect.

I got a problem… So far,i can memorize the pronunciation, writing and spelling, but i can not recognize the words well, even if i have memorized the pronunciation and spelling. Now my memory for the words are based on the pronunciation. Is that normal? Should i keep going,or pay attention to that?

    Hope Hassan can see this!
